A top official of the Movement for Democratic Change wing of Welshman Ncube has quit the party amid reports that the beleaguered party that was trounced in the July elections is facing internal strife.
There are reports that Qhubani Moyo could be joining the Ministry of Information but he denied this in an interview with VOA Studio 7.

Indications are that the party, which failed to garner even a single seat in the July 31 parliamentary elections, faces serious divisions over the alleged imposition of secretary-general, Priscilla Misihairambwi Mushonga, on the Matabelaland South proportional representation seat.

Moyo, the former Director of Policy Research Co-ordination, contested the Insiza South parliamentary seat but lost to Education and Culture Minister, Andrew Langa.

He said, “It’s not true that I’m leaving because of the election results or the leadership of Professor Welshman Ncube. On the contrary, I respect Prof. Ncube as a statesman. But I have to move on.”

Moyo said he is taking a break from politics to pursue his education studies, though he could not be specific about this issue.
