WASHINGTON DC —
The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) formation of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai is accusing Zanu PF of employing dirty tactics ahead of the July 31 poll, including attacking supporters in possession of MDC-T regalia and pulling down campaign posters.
Provincial youth chairman Tonderai Samhu said well-known Zanu PF activists are tearing down their posters in Mvurwi, Glendale, Guruve, Mbire and other areas in the province.
He said some MDC-T activists at Ruya Adventist Church School in Mt. Darwin were attacked recently and their party regalia forcibly taken and shredded to pieces by Zanu PF activists.
Samhu said the police did not take any action. “We have also engaged Zanu PF on through the Joint Monitoring and Implementation Committee and political liaison committee platforms but it has come to nothing,” he said.
Zanu PF provincial political commissar and JOMIC co-chairman Everson Tauro said his party is discouraging all forms of political violence in the province.
“I spoke to some members in Mvurwi that they should stop destroying posters belonging to MDC-T or any other party,” said Tauro.
