Video footage of President Mugabe appearing in official meetings with his daughter, Bona, in Japan sparked a firestorm on Monday with some asking in what capacity did she travel and who is paying for her expenses.
Mugabe was shown on national television flanked by Bona and his Foreign Affairs Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi during what was said to be an official meeting with Japan Prime Minister.
The president is in Japan for a conference on disaster response and reduction.
His entourage includes Health Minister David Parirenyatwa, Environment Minister Savior Kasukuwere, as well as Local Government Minister Ignatias Chombo.
But it is Bona's presence that triggered widespread outrage, with the opposition MDC-T demanding immediate answers from the government.
Party Spokesman Obert Gutu accused Mugabe of abusing state resources, adding they will raise the issue in parliament.
