The National Gallery of Zimbabwe will open its doors to the public free of charge on Wednesday, International Museum Day, which coincides with Zimbabwe Culture Week running through Saturday, May 21

The National Gallery Of Zimbabwe will open its doors to the public at no charge on Wednesday, which is International Museum Day and coincides with Zimbabwe Culture Week which runs through Saturday, May 21.

National Art Gallery Curator Raphael Chikukwa told VOA Studio 7 reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that his institution is trying to encourage members of the public to make visits to the national museum a part of their lives.

The National Arts Council Of Zimbabwe, coordinating Culture Week countrywide, is urging the government, the private sector and individuals to support local artists.

The Council is also calling for professionalization of the country's creative industries, with a view to formalizing operations to allow them to increase their market space.
