Witness Dube, who is also a chauffeur for MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khuphe, allegedly assaulted party driver Zaccariah Nkomo
Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) activist Witness Dube who is accused of stealing a vehicle, cellphone and cash from the party’s rival renewal team, was Tuesday released on bail by a Bulawayo magistrate, pending trial in a fortnight.
Dube, who is also a chauffeur for MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khuphe, allegedly assaulted Zaccariah Nkomo, a driver for the party’s Matabeleland North provincial chairperson, Sengezo Tshabangu, who is aligned to the Renewal Team, before stealing cash, cellphones, and an Isuzu truck he was driving in the city last week.
Dube, whose six accomplices are still at large, is also charged with assaulting Nkomo and his companions Lameck Ndlovu and Sage Mguni along Joshua Mqabuka Street in Bulawayo.
Tshabangu said his team made a separate high court application compelling the MDC-T to return the vehicle, while criminal proceedings continue in the magistrate courts.
