Zimbabwe Football Association Urged to Overhaul Image to Win New Sponsors


ZIFA will appoint Zimbabwe Under-23 coach Norman Mapeza interim national coach following the departure of Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambwa to South Africa to coach the Freestate Stars

Zimbabwean soccer fans are urging the Zimbabwe Football Association to do a better job of attracting sponsors and boosting attendance by fans so it can compensate coaches well enough retain their services.

The call followed reports ZIFA will appoint Zimbabwe Under-23 coach Norman Mapeza interim national coach following the departure of Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambwa to South Africa to coach the Freestate Stars.

The Warriors are to play Seychelles later this month in the CAF African Nations Championship.

Football analyst Wellington Dangarembizi told VOA Studio 7 reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that transparency is essential if ZIFA is to attract sponsors which can provide the means to draw - and keep - quality coaches.
