WASHINGTON —
The government says it successfully hosted the African Union Sports Council Region Five under 20 Youth Games, which ended in Bulawayo on Sunday, where South Africa finished first and Zimbabwe second, in terms of the gold, silver, and bronze medals collected throughout the games.
Sports Minister Andrew Langa says the games enabled much-needed renovations of Bulawayo’s major sports facilities, which now meets international standards.
Langa says Zimbabwe has shown potential to perform even much better in similar games, which will be held in Angola in 2016.
