Zimbabwe Parliament Narrows Field for Human Rights, Electoral Commissions

Parliament has drawn up a shortlist of candidates for Zimbabwe's new electoral and human rights commissions and interviews will be conducted over the next two weeks, sources said.

The Standing Rules and Orders Committee on Tuesday identified 25 candidates for the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and 30 for the Human Rights Commission.

Constitutional Affairs Minister Eric Matinenga told reporter Jonga Kandemiiri of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that his committee will interview rights panel candidates on Monday.
