Zimbabwe to Host October COSAFA Senior Challenge Cup in October

The Zimbabwe Football Association has received a US$1 million government commitment and another US$100,000 from the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority to host the Senior Challenge Cup of the Confederation of East and Central African Football Associations in October.

The 14-nation event will take place at Harare's Rufaro Stadium and Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second-largest city and the capital of Matabeleland.

ZIFA Chief Executive Officer Henrietta Rushwaya told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that the event will compensate for Zimbabwe's failure to qualify for the 2010 World Cup taking place in neighboring South Africa.
