Pakistan Cricketers Thrash Zimbabwe In Series, Taking Four Of Five Matches

Already in a rebuilding phase and currently troubled by injuries, the Zimbabwe cricket team has been beaten by Pakistan in four straight matches in a series of five.

Host Pakistan beat Zimbabwe on Wednesday by seven wickets in a one-day international played at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

The defeat came in spite of some impressive batting by Tatenda Taibu who put 51 runs on the scoreboard. Paceman Tawanda Mpariwa sat out the match after spraining his left ankle in a practice session. Captain Prosper Utseya was also benched.

The final match, another one-day international is set for Sheikhupura Saturday.

Sports commentator Brian Goredema told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that while injuries contributed in significant measure to Zimbabwe's losses, the team has displayed no consistency in the series.
