Zimbabwe's Dynamos Take Aboard Former Mwana Africa Winger Marere

Formerly a winger for Zimbabwe's Mwana Africa Football Club until its relegation from the Premier Soccer League to Division One, Benjamin Marere is now in training with the Dynamos, currently champions of the country's top football league.

Dynamos has also recruited Mwana Africa's former captain, Thomas Svesve.

Mwana Africa had an impressive run early in the 2007 soccer season and came close to gaining entry to the CAF Confederation Cup but were eliminated by TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mwana Africa's performance went downhill and its coach, Willard Mashinkula Khumalo, was sacked with six games left in the season.

Marere and Svesve were instrumental in helping their team advance in the CAF Confederation Cup, besting Angola's Interclube and Burkina Faso's Etoile Filante before being knocked out by the DRC's Tout Puissant Mazembe.

Marere tells reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that he is confident he make a major contribution to his new team as it prepares for the CAF African Champions League competition.

Dynamos faces Royal Leopards of Swaziland in Mbabane on February 17; a return leg is scheduled March 2 in Harare.
