The Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union says it is drawing players of diverse backgrounds to the sport despite the country's economic crisis through a junior training program.
Organizers say they are trying to dispel the myth that golf is for economic elites only, by introducing players from the capital's high-density suburbs or townships who would otherwise not have the opportunity to compete in the sport.
Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union President Jessie Nyakatawa told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe she is pleased with the response from junior players as these will be Zimbabwe's professional golfers of tomorrow.
