Zimbabwe Soccer Players Welcome FIFA-Mandated Medical Exams

Players in Zimbabwe's Premier Soccer League say they welcome the enforcement of a requirement by the International Federation of Association Football requiring medical exams before the next season begins, saying this stands to benefit their health.

A Caps United player speaking on condition of anonymity told VOA he is happy with the ruling as it will prepare players to meet international football standards.

Former Zimbabwe Warriors national team player Alois Bujira, now based in South Africa, said the ruling had been in force in that country for some time, adding that he is happy to see that Zimbabwean athletes will now receive health checkups.
