Zimbabwe Soccer Clubs Seek Relief From Public Levies On Revenues

Member clubs of Zimbabwe's Premier Soccer League have urged the Zimbabwe Football Association and the league itself to lobby the government to reduce the share of gate receipts taken by the central fiscal authority and other public entities.

Monomotapa Football Club Secretary David Makombe said clubs face viability issues and cannot pay players due to the large share of takings are going to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority, municipal authorities, the Education Ministry, and others.

Makombe told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that if the situation is not redressed soccer’s future will be endangered.
