With Official Resources Scarce, Zimbabwean Paralympian Trains Alone

Zimbabwean track and field athletes including paralympian Elliot Mujaji, a 100 and 200 meter specialist, are expressing disappointment that the National Athletics Association has not set up a training camp for the All-Africa games next month in Algeria.

The association has said it doesn’t have the financial resources and that athletes must train on their own until a few days before they leave for Algeria.

The association will send 16 athletes to Algeria and was awaiting approval from the national Sports and Recreation Commission to set final logistical details.

Mujaji told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that he is training on his own but would have benefited from full training facilities.
