Zimbabwe's Women's Soccer Team Faces South Africa In Olympic Bid

Zimbabwe's national women's soccer team, the Mighty Warriors, is set to face South Africa’s Banyana Banyana on June 3 in Johannesburg in the first leg of qualification play for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, with a return leg June 15 in Harare.

If the Mighty Warriors prevail they will play the winner of the first leg between Algeria and Nigeria, and might then face Morocco or the Democratic Republic Of Congo.

Mighty Warriors Coach Rose Mugadza met with the Zimbabwe Football Administration in Harare Thursday to discuss the team’s preparations.

New Orleans women’s football club owner Harveson Masilela told Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that he is happy with the draw and likes the chances of the Mighty Warriors as both the Zimbabwe and the South African teams are rebuilding.
