Zimbabwe's NGO Umbrella Body Voices Support For Worker Demands

Zimbabwe's National Association of Nongovernmental Organizations has declared that it stands in solidarity with workers who are demanding a living wage, though adding that it is trying to find a peaceful resolution to ongoing labor and social unrest.

Doctors, nurses and teachers are on strike around the country and civil servants have warned that they too may walk out if their pay demands are not met.

NANGO Advocacy and Communications Manager Fambai Ngirande told reporter Jonga Kandemiiri of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that his organization deplores the government’s heavy-handed response to political and social unrest, and said that the organization plans to meet with labor and employers to seek a solution.
