Football Clubs Urge Zimbabwe's Premier League To Line Up Prize Money

Zimbabwe's Premier Soccer League has called a special general meeting of its 16 clubs to review last year’s performance and to map the way forward for 2007.

The meeting, to be held Saturday at Golden Mile Hotel in Kwekwe, Midlands, could be explosive as club managers take the PSL to task over its failure last season - and so far for the upcoming season - to find sponsors to provide prize money.

Monomotapa Football Club Secretary David Makombe has called on PSL members to unite and maintain a positive image to attract sponsors and ensure soccer’s growth.

Reporter Marvellous Mhlanga Nyahuye of VOA's Studio for Zimbabwe interviewed Makombe, who explained the league strategy that he is pushing.
