Zimbabwe's Under-20 Footballers Reach Truce With ZIFA Over Pay

Zimbabwe’s Under-20 Young Warriors arrived home Wednesday, ending an episode in which players refused to board their return flight on Tuesday complaining that they had not been paid allowances due from the Zimbabwe Football Association.

Team captain Ali Sadiki said the players received Z$75,000 on arriving in Harare, but were still owed back payments. Players said they were warned by ZIFA to refrain from talking to reporters about the incident. But they said they were not happy with what they had received, as the funds were in local currency and taxes were deducted.

Reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 For Zimbabwe spoke with team captain Sadiki about the controversy and where players finally stood.
