Former Zimbabwean national cricket team member Mark Vermeulen appeared in court again on Wednesday to face charges he set a Harare cricket facility on fire October 31, but the case was adjourned to February over a question of evidence.
Vermeulen stood before Harare magistrate William Bhila today accused of arson at the CFX Zimbabwe Cricket Academy, a training facility. Vermeulen's case was adjourned to Feb. 7 after the prosecution failed to produce video evidence.
In an interview, Vermeulen acknowledged being present at the facility on the night in question, but cited circumstances arising from a cricket-related medical condition.
He told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that his lawyers have applied to the court to let him play cricket again at a venue other than Harare Sports Club.
