Despite the deep economic recession and chronic shortages of power and water, the Zimbabwe gymnastics establishment is getting ready to host the Zone Six Gymnastics Competition at Belvedere Teachers College in Harare from December 7 to 13.
Zimbabwe sports officials say provision is being made to address potential power and water cuts that have lately deterred holding international events in the country.
Zimbabwe coach Cheryl Muchatuta says the tournament will feature gymnasts up to the age of 21 from countries in the Southern African region. The tournament was last held in Zimbabwe in 1999 and officials at Gymnastics Zimbabwe are hailing its return and appealing to Zimbabweans to support the discipline in the country..
Sports reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe asked Muchatuta about the Zimbabwean team's level of preparedness.
