The much expected fireworks at the Zanu PF headquarters where thousands of party supporters were bussed in amid threats and counter threats by rival factions became an anticlimax today after President Mugabe rebuked those fanning factionalism.

Following a declaration of a food state of emergency for the country, the government has launched a $1.5 billion national and international appeal for food assistance.

Drought-stricken Masvingo villagers express dismay over efforts by Zanu PF officials to force them to fund President Mugabe’s birthday bash to be held in the town later this month.

And in sports news the passing on of Zifa Bulawayo Province chairman Washington Sithole Chimanda has been described as a great loss to local football.
