Big changes for journalists covering parliament in 2016 – effective immediately journalists will now have to get police clearance to get accreditation to cover parliament. Media groups are contesting this move saying it aims to muzzle free space.

Civil Servants, including doctors and nurses have received their promised pay, but many want to know about the status of bonuses and more consistency of pay in 2016. The National Joint Negotiating Council comprising government workers and representatives is meeting on this today.

In Chitungwiza, protests that started yesterday over operating fees for omnibus drivers has subsided, but tension remains high and as many feel the pinch.
